Semi-new nose piercing trouble?

January 6th, 2009
  • Wasn't sure where to post this or if anyone could help at all...

I just got my nose pierced for the second time, the first time I went to a really crappy place and had it for about a year but it never healed right and got too infected and painful so I let it close up. I waited about 4 months and got my nose pierced on the other side. The piercer was very helpful and I cleaned it correctly and waited about 2, 2 and a half months to change it. It was fully healed and I took it out to clean it fully... but I couldn't get it back in. It was one of the straight ones with the curve on the end... I tried for a whole day and didn't make much progress, except my nose swelled up. No lump, just sore and red. So I gave up on that one and put one I had from before. It's sterling silver, and I'm wondering if this is okay, or will it make it infected? I've had it in for about 2 weeks now, and my nose is still scabbing on the inside.. I was thinking of trying to get a more expensive gold stud? Any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate since I don't want to do another repiercing....

  • It should be fine but you may be someone who can only wear gold body jewelry. To make it more comfortable try mixing sea salt (that you can get at any grocery store) and warm water in a cup and holding it around your piercing. You can do it with any body piercing and it sooths it. I have my nose pierced and I personally like the L shaped rings the best. The ones with the balls on the end just hurt. Good luck!

  • It seems strange that it had closed up that fast. I believe that it closes after about a day or two without anything in it. I would just put the sterling silver one back in. Clean it the way you have been doing it and maybe wait a bit longer before changing it. I waited at least 4 months before I changed mine. As fas as it scabbing over try not to touch it. I was also wondering if you have been submerging the area in warm water and a bit of sea salt or if you have been cleaning it with some other method. If noe oof this was helpful I would call the place where you got it pierced.
