Wanting To Buy Owned License

January 6th, 2009
  • I am about to purchase an owned license, but have a problem. When going on the purchase page, in the price column in gives me options like 1 2: £82.00 and then something like 50+: and a price. What does this all mean, and which should I choose?

Also, I have heard that I need hosting to run a vbulletin website, where can I get this from, and will there be someone who can upload it onto the host for me, as I wouldn't be able to do this.

  • Thanks, I think im going to go to IPB, as Vbulletin had some hidden charges that I wasn't aware of.. :'(
Sales questions can be posted in the pre-sales forum.
    There are no hidden charges.

if you want 1 license, you can pick between a lease license (which is called anually on ipb) and a owned license (called perpetual on ipb).

The leased license allows you to run 1 instance of vBulletin for a year. $85
The owned license allows you to run 1 instance of vbulletin for ever! $160

You get 12 months download access to the updates, and forever download access to the versions released within those first 12 months.

Optionally you can renew the owned license download access to the new versions for $30 - which is optional, and you can do that at any time.

  • Thank you for letting us know you're interested in a purchage. looking forward to your order.

Thanks for your help guys and I have purchased VB. Looks great install was easy.

    Thanks again for your help.

  • Can I buy older versions of vBulletin now?

  • Good luck with your website!

  • Is 2.3.7 cheaper because it's older or is it the same price as 3.0.7?

  • so as long as I am only running 1 version of VB, I can choose whatever version are available at the time. Thats sound good to me, expect my application soon.

    Thanks for you help.

  • Hope you dont mind me asking a question in this thread.

Anyhow I am looking at buying in the next couple of days but just wanted to check something. We have access to VB 3.0.7 correct? If i get that, am I then allowed to get vb 3.5 when its released? Or if VB4 is ever released and as I am looking at getting the owned licensce, will i be allowed to download and run that?

    Thanks for your help.

  • No, 2.3.7 is not cheaper. You do not buy a version. You buy the right to download whichever versions are currently available and will be available for the next year.

  • No. The only versions available if you order now are 2.3.7 and 3.0.7.

  • Hi Papz,

Thank you for your interest in the vBulletin forum software and for contacting vBulletin sales.

If you want 1 license, enter 1 in either the field for te leased or the owned license (depending which one you want).

    The 1+, 3+, 5+ .. are the quantity prices.

If you buy 3 or more licenses at the same time you can enjoy a bulk discount on a per license basis.

Let me know if you require any further information and we're looking forward to your purchase.

    All the best,

  • Thank you for your help

  • WHen you purchase an owned license, you will get download access for 1 year, which after it expires you will have access to any versions released during that time. 3.0.7 3.5.x 4.0 if it were to come out. After 1 year there is an optional 30 dollar renewal fee for downloads.

    :)

  • You can purchase the installation service ($135) during or after purchase.

And yes, we only sell the forum software, not the hosting solution.
