Charlton @ Man City
January 6th, 2009
Probably the same lineup as against Villa. I would only question Fish at this point. I'm not sure he has played well. This is where I wish I could "see" the matches and not just listen.
And unforntunately I will only get to listen to the first half of this one. My daughter's birthday party is Saturday morning as well.
I think Jeffers will get on the board again, along with either Euell or Rommedahl.
I say Man City 1-2 Charlton Athletic.
Go Addicks!
I don't want to place all the blame on a single player, I'm sure the whole team played poorly and I totally missed the game, but I'm going to do it anyway.
Mark Fish has to go.
He'd be inadequate in the Second Division three years ago, but for some incomprehensible reason he's still Curbs' first choice week in and week out. If we still had Rufus and Rowett, and Perry wasn't MIA, this guy would be fifth on my depth chart... no wait, since I rate Michael Turner higher, he'd be sixth.
Here's hoping Curbs signs two defenders in the next two days.
And please Matt Holland come back soon!
I read on the BBC board that Lisbie injured his ankle, anyone else hear anything about this? Hopefully it's just a rumour.
That was accidental but good -- groom Shearer. Ha.
And Javier Saviola has officially gone on loan to Monaco.
And now with the sacking of Sir Bobby Robson rumors of Alan heading to Newcastle.
Why does all of this feel pre-July 1 all over again?
Why aren't we wearing our ugly yellow away kits? Those were good luck for us last year. Someone get the message to Curbs -- on the road we should wear the yellow.
And I agree -- Fish has got to go. Perry needs to be in there if he is not injured. He teamed with Fortune quite well for spells last year. If not Perry, then maybe put HH in the middle and either El K or Powell on the outside.
Or go buy a good defender. Less than two days now to buy someone. But we have two weeks to stew over this and get it fixed.
Go Addicks!
However, Anelka got us down 1-0.
I see this as a big disappointment because the team seemed ready to make a step to the next level after two home wins. Man City were ready to be taken after their poor start to the season and with a two week break coming up a victory for Charton really would have confirmed their good start.
Instead it seems like "back to the drawing board" for Curbishley. Two bad away defeats is not a good sign.
And now we have to live with this embarrassing loss for a while since I don't think there's any matches next weekend.
A quality signing today or tomorrow might make me feel a little bit better, but for all this talk about one or two new signings before the transfer deadline, the deadline is tomrrow and still nothing, I'm skeptical.
