  • Can't believe I haven't seen this thread before!! What a fantastic time you guys had. I really wish I was there, but I was just down the road getting impossibly drunk watching various bands play at the V Festival. I bet my feet hurt more than yours did...

  • I too have got quite a few more, mostly portrait stuff (I was practicing with so many willing subjects :D )! I just tried to post some slightly different ones from what has already been seen.

    All the best, mate

  • A few from me.
Srangely, most of the pictures seem to be of us in various pubs - and I've also found that most of the pictures on my cameras weren't taken by me. It was a bit of a camera-swapping weekend.

And what is a Mod supposed to do when most of the time he finds a camera being pointed in his direction with a cry of 'that's another one I can use to blackmail you with!'. Banning is to good for them.

  • oh gosh!!!! oads of pics now :) hehehe yeah I used many cams there...
Blah! Chris!!!! the photo from your cam of me (on that bridge) is wafull!!! I did so foolish face :P:P buahahah but it is always nice to laugh form myself :P

oh no... so Rob!!!?? You're going digital?? 10d ?? nice :) and I'm still far far away from my DSLR... but someday... ... someday... ok ... I'll post a few more portraits, which are rather artsy.. but later on :P so stay tuned :)

  • YEAH! Hey... Australia's half way you know! hehehe.... it's just the 'loooong' halfway.

That group photo of everyone is great! It's so nice to be able to put all your gorgeous faces to your names now. hehehe and now I know who to avoid in the street... ;-)

  • Cool! More shots of you guys in action, please.Yes..more ...more! :)

    Great job Scurra!

  • buahahahah I didn't notice that !!! :D:D:D:D hahaha

  • he's not going to ban us, I know that! or I'll threaten him with MD and a few shots I took and haven't posted :D

  • This is so great to put faces with names. And I love seeing people in action with their cameras!

  • looks like you all had a great time! wish i could go to a meet up *sigh* me2 :x

  • Us getting lost - again!

    Never interfere with this man!
He has access to the BUTTON.
If you ever see this look it means "You're banned!" for this is the ultimate "You're-Banned-Look"!!!!!!!!

    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/Inna2212/Meet-Up/007_TheBanLook.jpg

  • I might know where you live, but I am not "onto you" - being as "sneaky" as yourself :D.
    "Sneaky photographers unite", heehee

Would it surprise you if I said: yes, I would like to see many more photos? I can't get enough of these, really.
And if you have any other ones but the portrait style photos, there is the "...odd attempt at 'arty-farty'"-thread out, too ;).

And special thanks for the photo "sisters". Makes three who tried to capture me nicely, much unlike this Hertz-person here............ (thankfully his "ugly-Corinna-scares-PlasticSpanner-so-much"-pic got hidden in the Day-2-thread of the Meet-Up!!!!!)

  • Cool! More shots of you guys in action, please.

  • The results that his lens gets are awesome, aren't they? I am quite taken in by the portraits! I like Tony's so very, very much! (He even got two nice ones of me, and so did you, not like this Hertz-guy here............. :D) I wonder what my sister will have achieved on film. Usually she is quite good at portraits (from a distance, with the 300mm lens), too. But I have never seen such brilliance and clarity in photos before, like there is in Tony's! Hopefully my sister will soon send me her prints in the mail!

  • Hi guys, it looks like it was fun. After all the trouble I had at work on Sat. (I got out at 15.30 in the end  ), my boss gave me a week off. The next meet I will take a week off before hand.

  • At least I took some pictures.

  • Blame the navsat.
I can't say you helped, turning up late like that and making us wait.

  • O ya, If we ever have a wwwTPF .. Mansi had better come and join us!!! I want some lessons!!

  • He he he What they all said!

Can't wait to see your photos! i think there were few occasions when you weren't looking through a camera!

  • I should think the rest of the forum is getting a bit bored with these threads now but I love seeing the photos other people took!

I too am picking up my films later today and can't wait to get some of them up here! Meanwhile keep posting your pics because I'm sure I'm not the only one in our group when I say I'd love to see all of them!:D

    P.S Tony's album is excellent!

  • NO WAY! Keep the pics coming!

  • And you said yours was a bad photo!! ;)

Where did you get to today?

  • OK, Mentos is still taking her time... so in the meantime here is my "Tempra-Collage" from the Cross Key Bar in Saffron Walden:

    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/Inna2212/Meet-Up/Tempra-Collage.jpg

Now I go to the swimming pool to collect my daughter and after that I expect to see some photos up here, Mentos! (;))

  • No worries, Mentos. They did not ARRIVE one after the other!! I squeezed my post inbetween! :D

And hey, today is the day when I can get the prints from the film I took with Rob's camera... how could I forget about it! I'm off..... must dash! To the drugstore. Ta-daaa!

  • OK, so heres the story of the first day - well the first part of it at least....

It started off in the morning, at about 10.30 in the bar of the Saffron hotel - we had coffee and a good chat there while we waited for Hertz to turn up.

    http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t46.jpg

Eventually, we got word that Hertz was in town, and he had the German girls with him, but being Hertz he likes to travel in style - nothing too ostentatious, but comfortable you know

    http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t47.jpg

Then after a couple of hours of chatting we decided to go for a walk around Saffron, At this point people needed to move their cars as they were in limited time parking spaces or the car park ticket was going to run out, so we decided to park just down the road in a couple of side streets that Hertz found.

    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/Inna2212/Meet-Up/Scan01_SeparateWays.jpg

satisfied with the parking, we headed off hootfoot into town.

There was a small market on in the town square, and Royster leapt into action and promptly disappeared into the melee of bargain hunters and old grannies with walking sticks. Hertz and Mataji were resolving their earlier dispute by having a duel, whilst Rob and Mentos were lining up to see who was quickest on the draw - it was tense stuff!

    http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t43.jpg

Beaten, Rob could do nothing but look on in disbelief whilst Corinna and Christiane - being the professionals that they are - continued to shoot the Hertz/Mataji duel.

    http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t41.jpg

After a quick headcount, there was a sudden realisation that one of us was missing in action - so we all had a giggle about it, then decided that we should go find plasticSpanner.

    http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t42.jpg

Hertz and Mataji disappeared up here...

    http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t48.jpg

And the rest of us went around the way that we came in the hope of heading him off at the pass. Hertz and Mataji returned from their hunting expedition triumphant, and once reunited, the gang headed off up a hill on the way out of Saffron Walden, the hill was quite steep, and after a short while we became a little bit separated, Corinna asked Plasticspanner where we were heading - "I'm following you" he said, as the rest of the gang pondered where they were going to turn next.

    http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t44.jpg

This way! came a cry, and with nobody having a clue or a better idea of where to go, off we headed down the hill. We could see the church from here, so we decided to head there.

    http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t49.jpg

near the bottom of a hill, there was what appeared to be a museum - and whats more, it was a beer museum, with free entry!!! So a decision was made to defer the church in favour of the beer museum.

    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/Inna2212/Meet-Up/HG4.jpg

Inside, the exhibits were all encased in aluminium barrels far from the public gaze, but a few of the gang were expert beerologists, and could spot the tell-tale signs that somewhere within the local strata there was hidden delights to be had.

    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y99/LaFotosSister/Zapfhhne.jpg

after a conversation with the beer nuseum staff, and bribing them with copious amounts of money (Robs money to be exact) we secured access to samples of the hidden treasure. Mentos, Magda and Corinna sat and wondered at this beautiful exhibit, then promptly drank it,

    http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t22.jpg

After all of the treasure was exhausted, we decided to carry on on our quest to get to the church on time, Rob stood up and flung his coat on, Royster, Magda and plasticspanner had to move quickly to avoid getting the corners of Robs coat in their eyes.

    http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t23.jpg

Rob had underestimated the speed at which he threw his coat on, and realised too late that he he had in fact severed his head - "Wheres my camera gone!" he shouted, fumbling around in the dark as he couldn't really see it at this point due to having no head, Mentos took pity on him and gave him a sorry look - which seemed to work as quite soon after that, Rob managed to get his head back in place - weird eh?

    http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t24.jpg

Once out of the beer museum, we found ourselves back in the market square, Rob had to phone headquarters to confirm that his head was indeed back in the correct position, fitted and working.

    http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t25.jpg

After a short while of studying the lovely melons on display in the market area...

    http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t28.jpg

We headed for the church, at the church, we wandered around looking at this and that, there were old parts and new parts of the church, I decided to look at an old part - there was no colour in them days

    http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t34.jpg

then once back outside, I heard Hertz say that he was going to take a photo of the little old gravestones - we knew his eyesight was a bit dodgy, but...

    http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t29.jpg

At this point, we were in the dead centre of Saffron Walden...

    http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t50.jpg

We then decied to head out of town, and that my friends is a whole new story.

  • Kind of explains the look on his face.

  • Ah, here is one of those photos that you took when you were standing on that iron fence... that of the Audley End House grounds and the geese.
Nice one of Mentos, but there CANNOT really be any not-nice photos of her, can there? No! There can't!

Oh, and cool frames, like viewcards. Very nicely done. I was thinking about doing that to my photos over in the "arty-farty"-thread on our meet-up (I framed some, as you can see), but my lettering always looks sooooo amateurish...

  • I too have got quite a few more, mostly portrait stuff (I was practicing with so many willing subjects :D )! I just tried to post some slightly different ones from what has already been seen.

If nobody minds I'm sure we all have loads more!

  • OK, here are some of the photos I took on film with Rob's Pentax, and I call this:

    "Separate Ways"
    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/Inna2212/Meet-Up/Scan01_SeparateWays.jpg

And this "Accident", don't know why......... ;););)
    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/Inna2212/Meet-Up/Scan02_TheAccident.jpg

Whatever it is Royster was thinking about at the time, I think he is giving my sister a most beautiful smile :). Little does she know, I think:
    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/Inna2212/Meet-Up/Scan03_NiceSmile.jpg

Who can't miss? The bearer of the eyes that PlasticSpanner shows us in colour and black and white (I think!)
    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/Inna2212/Meet-Up/Scan04_Mentos.jpg

A view of St. Mary's Church towering over Saffron Walden, and I think the pink, the blue and the white house were in this street? There definitely was "The Old English Gentleman" at the bottom of this street!
    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/Inna2212/Meet-Up/Scan05_SWStMarys.jpg

    More later.
Must take my daughter to the pool for her training - they've been back to school since yesterday, so she no longer has two training units per day (one of 2 hours and one of 2 1/2 hours, one of those being in the workout room and "only" 90 minutes in the water) - but since today is Friday, she DOES have two units per day... from now on one unit at night from Monday through Thursday and two on Friday and two on Saturday... and the pool's 18km away, that would be about what? 12 miles? Guess so.

  • A couple more - one with a table groaning under the weight of our technology.

We actualy did talk a number of times about how good it would be to get together with some more forum members from around the world. USA/Canada was the favourite (or somewhere near). The feeling was that if we all got on so well (a lot of bonding went on  ) so quickly then meeting more of the 'tribe' would be even better.
And all of you board members who weren't there - you really were there in our thoughts. Even T-H got a mention :lmao:
I think we should start making plans for a big international meet-up. Make it so, Number One.

A fun and chaotic weekend with some of the nicest people I have ever met.

  • Oy!

  • Awesome! Can't wait to see more of what you guys get up to. Looks like fun!

  • What wonderful photos! Everyone looks like they had a great time. Glad Hertz didn't get lost, but did anyone tell him that he's driving on the wrong side of the road?

  • YOU took some of the photos in Tony's album? Wow. Which ones?

But the black+white photo from inside St. Mary's is your photo all right, Tony, isn't it? I like that one soooooooooo much!!!!

Well, I'll now go flood the Day-2-thread with more photos of mine, heeheeheehee :D.

  • Those thoughts are always there!

    We're men!

  • Hey Mentos, the *minimum* speed limit is 130mph in the UK, didn't you know? "Turn left at the square" was one of the better offerings from the sat nav (it was a roundabout). "Perform a U turn" was another favorite - a five car convoy synchronised about-face on a national speed limit country road has to be some kind of record.

For some reason the guardians of Upper Street in Islington weren't keen on our exotic threesome, so we had to resort to Highbury instead where notions such as over 21's are not entertained. Still at least we managed to scrape one last beer in before closing time.

It was a great day, thanks to all for coming and being surprisingly normal IRL - the number of internet and photography events I've been to where the people have been... well.... GODDAMN FREAKS. None of that with TPF though!

We'll have to try for a US or another European meet some time soon, it's definitely worth the effort.

    Rob

  • See? Now I'm just Disco Banana. Oh, the ignominy of it...

But I still have the video so stay tuned.

  • Congrats girly. Now I need to go and have a cold shower....

  • Thanks, we'll have to have another one where we can all have a beer as well!!

Iceland sounds great & my dad lives in Bermuda, so either would do me! I'll be in NYC soon, so is there anyone over the pond who's local to that area?

    Rob

  • actually, Corinna, the only pics of your sister I have, are those where she is hidden behind camera :/

but you know what?! I was completely upset about my english skills on the meet-up :/ I know I can do much better, speaking and so on... that was a disster :/ but... next time I'll improve:D

hehehe and heh.. I had a great fun, at the beginning it looked as if Corinna was going to kill you guys - she truly expected that we had had some kind of plan organized and we would follow it... :) that was very German of her :)

  • Sure wish I was there, have fun!

    Eric

  • The results that his lens gets are awesome, aren't they? I am quite taken in by the portraits! I like Tony's so very, very much! Hopefully my sister will soon send me her prints in the mail!

yeah the lens is amazing! It was the first time I played with 50 mm... I've seen the results before but they were not as good as those... and to be honest I do like a pic of Rob (http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t11.jpg) it might look nicelya s a poster on a wall :)

  • More later.... hang on, be patient... will be back in a sec...

  • That is a LOT of cameras on that table!

  • That's awesome!
I wish I could have been there!
Thanks for sharing! I hope to see more soon! :)

  • Think I'm gonna get me a harry potter invisble cloth when people have their cams out

  • again nice pics! thanks royster :D

  • (Even Mataji though she looks kinda tough and intimidating after you take her photo! JK)

That is such a lie!! ....Well okay okay maybe just a little bit?

And Scurra, no wonder you were so evasive when i asked if any photo's were up already, you started this whole thread!! :lmao:

  • OK I got my films back! Not as good as most of the photos here but for the 1st time I'm happy with most of the portrait shots! (Must be the company I was in!):D

1st one whilst I scan some more. This was less than 1 hour after meting everybody! You'd think we do this every year!

    http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/374/14127fn.jpg

  • rob looks like a pimp too, you guys are awesome!

  • oh gosh... I have many simmilar shots of Graham :) I'm waiting for a video :P

  • wow those are all awesome photos!
Looks like y'all had a LOT of fun!
Mentos is a real cute one! :blushing:

  • We're not local to there, but it's definitely an easy drive to get there :)Sounds promising! :)

Rob, when were you planning to come over?

  • Tempra, I liked the feel of your camera the best. So much so, I'm probably going to buy one when I'm over in NYC soon. Crikey, talk about turning to the dark side - going both digital and canon?! Still for $800 ish I suppose I can't go too wrong!

Welcome to the dark side :fangs:

Wonder if I can get commission from Canon

  • Awesome pics people!

Eric said it all: "Sure wish I was there" :D

  • it looked as if Corinna was going to kill you guys...

And you must not say this, Mentos! Not after the photo that Hertz took of me and posted (!) - fortunately over in the other thread where fewer people go.

  • The only fly in the ointment was Hertz.
Fancy getting us lost like that.

  • and the fish and chips... also should be mine... actually it is my dinner :P
and the one with Tony and Rob who is blurred in the background... it is http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t7.jpg this one

  • Realy? I rather liked it! It looks very "outdoors" and natural don't you think?

    http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/4369/14374kz.jpg

  • BUAHAHAHAHAHA oooooo I love it Tony :) it is soooo amazing!!! you HAVE to write the rest of it!!! buahahahaha it is just perfect and soooooo true :)

  • :lmao:

  • YOU took some of the photos in Tony's album? Wow. Which ones?

But the black+white photo from inside St. Mary's is your photo all right, Tony, isn't it? I like that one soooooooooo much!!!!

Well, I'll now go flood the Day-2-thread with more photos of mine, heeheeheehee :D.

yeah those were Tony's I love them...

Even though it was after 1am when I got home the sky was quite clear with just a little cloud and the moon nearly full so I went out again! The TPF Euro-Meet was still on for some so this is kinda between day 1 and 2 I suppose!!!

    http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/4674/moon3pc.jpg

    http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/9201/21601bi.jpg

And my nose! Now what does my nose do in this photo???????

WARNING: Beware of LaFoto and her sneaky ways of photographing others...especially with the aid of her sister
    http://img306.imageshack.us/img306/6589/20947yg.jpg

Well, the sneaky photo I took came out sooooooo nice, I just have to post it a second time so all get the connection:

    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/Inna2212/Meet-Up/010_Mentos.jpg
Wasn't it worth being "sneaky" - and getting caught...  :)

  • Looks like you guys had lots of fun :) I am soooo jealous...especially that you all got to me the great and powerful Oz...or eh Hertz in person

More pics, more pics more pics more pics....

  • I'll be in NYC soon, so is there anyone over the pond who's local to that area?

    Rob

no, but i go quite often.

  • Here's one I got of Royster:

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v407/Scurra/TPF%20Meetup/7.jpg

I'd like to take this opportunity to say it was great to meet everyone, you're all really nice people and I look forward to the next meetup :)

  • Tempra, I liked the feel of your camera the best. So much so, I'm probably going to buy one when I'm over in NYC soon. Crikey, talk about turning to the dark side - going both digital and canon?! Still for $800 ish I suppose I can't go too wrong!

Lafoto, I hope that my Pentax did the job for you ok, it's a great little camera. The film I gave you wasn't the best in the world, but hey, hopefully something will come out!

    Rob

  • Well, this is all so awesome, congrates to everyone's happiness, fun and continued friendships!

It's great to see all these shots!!

I live near Niagara falls, 45 minutes from Toronto Airport, 50 Minutes from Buffalo Airport.. and there is so much to see and do around here... you are all welcome here anytime, next summer for a 2006 TPF World Wide Meet!

If it's not a good idea, I would love to go to Iceland!

  • Haha mentos I like that scared picture of me, it reminds me of rabbits in headlights shortly before being flattened :)

  • i keep hearing the jaws theme...

  • Oh. There are so many new photos here now. And so much more writing. I can't read all that. It is too much. But I looked at all the new photos.

It is nice that sometimes someone photographed me without my camera glued to my eye. I like your photos all. Tony's photos are very sharp. That is nice. And Chris has a nice photo of Corinna and me. And even Corinna took a nice photo of me and Royster.

I was in the drugstore today where I give away my films and they come back as photos. I had only time to bring them my films on Wednesday. And today there were no photos. I think my better photos are taken with the camera with film. I can form a better photo with that camera. The digital camera which is the same like Corinna's is very new. I used it in England for the first time.

My scanner is in conflict with my computer. They don't like each other.
When my photos are here, I shall send the double pictures to Corinna. She must scan them. And she must send them to this photo bucket.
Then I can send them to this board.
This will take time. I hope that someone still wants to look at the photos then.

  • One of myself taken by Mentos! (Thanks! )

    http://img372.imageshack.us/img372/1874/chris6wq.jpg

  • Hahaha, that "seperate ways" picture could say so much, but its so wrong! I should thank Hertz again for letting me borrow his black fleece jacket, as i got quite cold, so thanks Hertz :D

  • hertzy ole boy!! you look like patrick stewart!!!!

  • I wouldn't worry about meeting any of these guys in the street! Only known them all for 1 day but they're all nice and friendly and would consider them as friends now!

(Even Mataji though she looks kinda tough and intimidating after you take her photo! JK)

  • i think hertz needs to make that last one his avitar...its very commanding...maybe jonmikal could add a phrase for it, like -- * engage, number one..* (jean luke piccard)

ya'll look so good.. i have never seen tempra or royster..or even hertz...mentos is so cute..and of course, i loved seeing lafoto and her sister...i so would love to meet up with ya'll....maybe we can meet half way sometime....looked like fun!!

  • Left to right.
Scurra and Scurra's 2 friends (are they on the forum?)

No they aren't they were actually supposed to come along as navigators but as everyone knows they turned out to be pretty poor at their jobs. I did a better job of getting to Saffron Walden on my own today than with the help of those two hehe

  • It'll have to wait till next week, going camping later with the kids - hope the weather holds up.

  • Wow, seriously so, Karalee? Well, to "tide you over" I have just put up pics about Finchingfield into the Day-2-thread. Will work on the prints of Day 1 soon (must get the washing machine running first! Lovely work it is, housework, ever so wonderful ... )

  • Awesome photos Rob! :)

Just give me a shout when you come to NYC. We could probably gather more tpf-ers from around the area.

We're not local to there, but it's definitely an easy drive to get there :)

  • I hope that is a thumb there!!! :meh:

    :cokespit:

  • Here I've got a nice little addition to make to all the photos that were taken in the Cross Key Bar in Saffron Walden, which was the fourth of the bars we went to in that one Saturday alone ;). I made a little collage out of them:

    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/Inna2212/Meet-Up/Mataji-Collage.jpg

Hertz might come to learn that one can also take nice photos of friends!!!!!!!

  • We'll have to have you guys set another one up some day, and a few of us will have to cross the pond to visit! :D

Or we could meet halfway?

  • guys, im going to sticky this so that others can post there pictures with ease...

  • THOSE ARE SOOOOOOOO GREAT!!!!!! Man, it looks like you guys had a blast.

Dang Mentos, you are a beauty girl! And Hertz, how tall are you? You look about 9' tall in that photo. LaFoto, great photo of you. It was also great to "see" all those wonderful people I read every day but have never seen.

I'm so jealous! Have a beer for me, ok?

  • this is all making me wish i had found a way there! thank you so much for posting...you guys look great!

  • And just a selection of a few more.

    More after I've had coffee & a smoke!

  • wow! thanks so much for posting everyone! looks like so much fun! And you guys who were there are so lucky to be with such attractive women!! omg!

  • Why do you ask that? Don't you like those? I really do! Honestly now!

Here are some of Mentos's photos, also put together in a collage, and taken in the same venue, i.e. the Cross Keys Bar in Saffron Walden, and she MUST have tonnes of photos herself... so hurry up, your five minutes will soon be over! ;) :greenpbl:

    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/Inna2212/Meet-Up/Mentos-Collage.jpg

  • Or we could meet halfway?
    Bermuda :lmao:

  • Hey Mentos, the *minimum* speed limit is 130mph in the UK, didn't you know? "Turn left at the square" was one of the better offerings from the sat nav (it was a roundabout). "Perform a U turn" was another favorite - a five car convoy synchronised about-face on a national speed limit country road has to be some kind of record.

For some reason the guardians of Upper Street in Islington weren't keen on our exotic threesome, so we had to resort to Highbury instead where notions such as over 21's are not entertained. Still at least we managed to scrape one last beer in before closing time.

    Rob

that was a cool drive! I love the speed :) and heh... you nav can be annoying sometimes... yeah I forgot abou "U turn" :D:D hahaha

  • I got to use my brand new top of the range tripod yesterday for the group shot, so you get to see the whole group. Think I left my tripod behind though :(

    http://www.tempradesign.co.uk/pics/tpf/crew.jpg
    Left to right.
Back Row, RobHesketh, Hertz Van Rental, Scurra and Scurra's 2 friends (are they on the forum?)
Middle (ish) row, Tempra, PlasticSpanner, LaFoto, Mentos 007, Mentos's friend, Royster
Front row, LaFoto's Sister and Mataji

Real shame about Tempra's tripod! I'm sure he'll be able to pick onother one up near where he lives though!

  • Yeah but you don't know where I live! (but LaFoto does! )

  • Yeah, it's not too bad for 1600 ISO and I think it shows you as you are

  • You're sure, JonMikal? All you TPFers from elsewhere have not long got totally bored with "our" threads here???? We are afraid you all might no longer be able to even stifle your yawns about the meet-up! I have a couple more that come from the film which Rob let me use in his all-manual Pentax (my, what a change to my spoilt "mostly-on-automatic" self [CAMERAWISE!]).

  • :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

Oh, I sooooooo want this story to go on, PLEASE!!!!!

    :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

  • That is a beautiful pile of cameras! :)
lol, these are all great photos!

  • And this "Accident", don't know why......... ;););)
    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/Inna2212/Meet-Up/Scan02_TheAccident.jpg

:biglaugh: Better watch what you do when Corinna's got her camera out!

  • Ah and I knew I had one of Tempra somewhere as well, I think my af decided the pint glass was a better subject though as he looks a little fuzzy ;)

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v407/Scurra/TPF%20Meetup/8.jpg

  • I know that the "Separate Ways" picture gives off a completely wrong impression! We spent many a lovely hour together after this, not only on that day but also on the Sunday, but I liked how this photo seemed to suggest this.

And of course I know that no "accident" happened to Tony!
And instead of hiding under a Harry-Potter-Invisible-Coat, he should watch where he places himself when there are so many cameras around ;).

  • Finally back online after 2 power cuts due to lightning!

Yes those were some taken off the iron railings! Those spikes looked rather sharp!

  • Hi, LaFoto and LaFoto'sSister are back home and have just gotten up and to downloading our piccies.

If you guys mean to plan a World Meet Up halfway across "the Pond", Iceland would be THE place to meet ... and with greatest photo ops too!!! You sure can rent caravans there ;). And we might not even have to lit our own camp fire, we just put ourselves in touch with one of their friendly volcanoes. Hm?

More photos soon - there are altogether some 630 digital photos, not to mention my sister's on film that will need to be developed first (and mine on the film that Rob let me use in his all manual SLR).

The journey home was easy and smooth and the family were delighted to have me back so I can continue doing the housework for them... .

It was absolutely worthwhile flying over for this weekend, it was one of the funniest weekends I've had in ages! Yes, I consider all of you as friends now! It was so great to meet you all and come across your skills of organisation and navigation :biglaugh:

  • Great..thanks! :)

Waiting for the next set of photos.

  • Tempra: thank you.
I sure like your photo of me taken in that bar a lot better than I like the one that Hertz took... that one *big swallow* ... that one ... Fortunately he put it into the wrong day thread, by mistake.

  • Man.. these are just great! nice work every one.. keep smiling :D nice to see all of you!

O ya, If we ever have a wwwTPF .. Mansi had better come and join us!!! I want some lessons!!
hey hey hey... have a TPFwww this side of the globe!
love to be a part of one of those... and hey im a n00b .. it'll be great to get to know some of you and to learn stuff from each other :)

  • hehehe Tony!! there are a few pics I took :) hehehe
    Great set of photos :)

  • ... and to be honest I do like a pic of Rob ...

Methinks you like that whole Rob-person ;););););).

And yes, when I first saw this portrait I thought: Hey now, this is a NICE one! Really good!!!!

Our chauffeur for the entire weekend - never getting lost, of course ;)

Beware that wagging finger LaFoto! I've a feeling he was trying to tell you something when you took this one!

Yes the driving was a little "brisk" and the local roads were great fun! :D

  • ok so finally I've found this thread :) I just uploaded my pics on my pc so give me a few minutes to resize and then beware: you may get smashed with the tones of pics I took on the meet-up :) but firstly a few memories:

Rob picked me and Magda from London with his brand new and georgeous BNW, which I love. He was speeding on the wrong side of the road and with a steering wheel on the wrong side - same as Graham... hmm something's wrong with you guys :P We got lost once or twice even with Rob's cool navigation... (btw. Rob, do you remember "square" sound :p). We appeared at SW hotel at 10.40 more less and we met Chris (PlasticSpanner) and Royster. Chris recognized me and that is how we met :) Then Hertz came and the rest of the gang. We drank coffe and waited for Ben. Then... walking, shooting, visting pubs and so on... then dinner... thank you guys for buying me and Magda fish and chips :) it was very kind of you. And the fish was really tasty but sooooooo huge! It was definitely bigger than my stomach :)
Then another pub and loads of pictures and fun... Tempra - you know, I love your 50 mm lens... look at pics of Rob taken by me :) they are really nice :)
and in the evening when we had to leave SW, Rob drove us through London. London at night is really great! but why the heck you have to be 21 to enter the pub???? pffffff so finally we ended somewhere in Islington and drank a beer ... Thanks Rob :)
I'd love to meet you all again and I hope I will :) now it's time for pics... 5 minutes please :)

  • this thread is very exciting to see! it's good to see lots of my fav's having fun! it would have been interesting being in your company. hope you share more with us soon!

  • it's great to see all went well.

Can't wait to see the rest of the photos!

  • Oh is there a reason that you all lined Hertz up under the sign "old bull"?????

  • Well, if you want to see mine, then have a look at:

    www.ukphotographs.com/tpf/rob (http://www.ukphotographs.com/tpf/rob)

    Cheers,

    Rob
p.s. If anyone wants pictures hosted lmk

  • Great shots Rob!! awesome to see everyone having a good time!

  • nice set! I'm sure the tripod didn't look that small at the time :o must dig out Robs experimental pics

  • [QUOTE=eromallagadnama]Looks like you guys had lots of fun :) I am soooo jealous...especially that you all got to me the great and powerful Oz...or eh Hertz in person  [QUOTE]

He kept talking about banning people and making us stand in the corner of the pub on our own! We had to be nice to him all day! :hail:

  • this is all making me wish i had found a way there!
    same here... :meh:

If anyone wins the lotto he/she is getting everyone a plane ticket to somewhere in the world so we can all meet...

  • ill sticky whatever you want!!!!

  • Wait till Mentos gets back! She must have taken hundreds of photos all day!

  • Guess the eyes? A little on the arty side but not scenery so I'll put it in here!

    http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/7419/theeyes3mk.jpg

I tried one in B&W too but I'm not sure which I prefer.

    http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/9437/theeyesbw9hg.jpg

  • buahahahah I didn't notice that !!! :D:D:D:D hahaha

But you were sat right next to me...

actually that might explain it :blushing:

now thats an intimidating look if i ever saw one. :whip:

  • OMG that's another terrible photo of me, I knew there was a reason I stayed behind the camera.

Beleive it or not that looks exactly like you and you look quite smart!

Anyway I'm sure there'll be a lot more of you so you can choose a better one if you like!

  • Chris, I do like to look through those pics too :) The meet-up was really great and I won't forget it :)

Corinna - yeah I like "that whole Rob-person" :) he is a very friendly and kind guy :)
And did I mention that I like "that whole Rob-person's car" ?? :D heheheh

btw today I've seen the same car here! But it was black and without this crazy navigation-woman :) or she was turned off. It only drew the arrows where you should go, but I'm sure that it was as crazy as Rob's :)

Chris!!! I wanna see your pics!!! come on!!!! post them ASAP

  • So well, here we go then. A couple of snaps and close-ups of the meet-up (I chose all in all 20 pics for you to enjoy, I'll spread them across a couple of posts, five in each or so):

    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/Inna2212/Meet-Up/001_Members.jpg
Magda, Mentos, Rob, Tempra and Hertz waiting for either photos to be taken or for someone who got lost ... getting lost was our overall theme :)

Do I have to say who this is?????? ;)

  • I just uploaded a load of shots from Saturday, they are in an album that can be found here http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/thumbnails.php?album=6&page=1 feel free to browse them, and if theres any you want to post in here, feel free to link them :)

  • Oh! I'm up to 999! Ok, this is cool. Talking about a very wickedly neat fantastic friend Hertz. Woohoo 1000!
(Did I say I had an enormous crush?)

  • Hallo, we are back, and the nice (!) English weather came to Germany with us.

It was nice to meet you all.
Thank you to Hertz for driving us around all the time.

Thank you, too, for buying us a dinner on Saturday night.

My prints from film will only be ready to be shown in about 10 days. I am sorry for that. And my new computer still does not agree with my scanner.

Corinna and I will now plough through our many digital photos and put up some later today.

  • Yeah, a lot of those are by Mentos, if you look at the montage you made of her Corinna, it's my cam in her hands.

Must say though, I don't often use the 50mm, but after seeing the results of it, I think that it's going to be getting a whole lot more use - it's the cheapest lens I have as well. :D

  • A few more from me, although I doubt if I took them all...

    http://www.tempradesign.co.uk/pics/tpf/t9.jpg

    http://www.tempradesign.co.uk/pics/tpf/t11.jpg

And one I like of LaFoto

    http://www.tempradesign.co.uk/pics/tpf/lf.jpg

  • And you said yours was a bad photo!! ;)

Where did you get to today?

Hehe sorry about that Tempra it was the only pic I seemed to have of you on your own...

Where did we get to? well we actually made it to finchinfield in the end without the nav sat thingumy... and also spent some time in Saffron Walden again and Thaxstead.

  • Thanks for the photos Mentos!
    They are great! :)

  • hahah yeah the photo of Tony is a blockbuster :D
oh gosh.. and I hoped that big boys can control themselves :P

  • Lafoto, I hope that my Pentax did the job for you ok, it's a great little camera. The film I gave you wasn't the best in the world, but hey, hopefully something will come out!

Thanks for asking and yes, "something" did come out, but I was sooooo insecure in my use of it, and felt it (!), that I knew even upon taking my pictures that most of them would be for the snapshot-forum only. And now I find that I was right. Christiane took the last 11 for me and ... her pictures, so I feel, are much better than mine! Apparently, she still knows BETTER what she is doing than I do! Thank you for lending me your little Pentax, anyway, it makes me look so much "wholer" on you own market square photo which shows Mentos and myself ;).

  • I'm not granted access to that link, but I am sure we mean the same (any orthodontist would love that photo!).
    Ha!
    And I did!
I did ask for you date of birth - and YOU TOLD ME, buahahaha

  • We did have a great, wonderful, funny, confused, again wonderful time! Even the fact that Hertz drove (not too slowly) on the wrong side of the road with the steering wheel in the wrong side of his car diminished our joy (many seemed to be used to this fact ;)).

Methinks my other photos no longer fit the title of THIS very thread, since those are of Day 2.
Would Matt - if I started a Day 2-thread - give that a sticky label, too, maybe????

  • plus the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car, thats probably why you guys got lost...

  • Great to see everyone having a good time! best wishes, safe travels!

  • Here's a few more...

I think i got caught here...

  • heheh I like the pic of me and the dinner :D

  • You mean I had a choice?

Well it could have been worse! Tony was ready to give you his inside leg measurement and everything!

  • "...and everything.......??????????

  • Thanks PlasticSpanner! That helps a lot, and also explains WHY we don't recognize some people! :)

  • :D you dirty people :D You didn't have such a thoughs when we met... :D:D:D:D at least I don't remember :P

  • I'm looking forward to see them!!!!!

  • ...and the thread starter himself!

    http://www.tempradesign.co.uk/pics/tpf/s1.jpg

    :D

  • actually, Corinna, the only pics of your sister I have, are those where she is hidden behind camera :/

Well, she does have a good many of those already and is not exactly asking for any of those....

...at the beginning it looked as if Corinna was going to kill you guys - she truly expected that we had had some kind of plan organized and we would follow it... :) that was very German of her :)

I did not think I was giving off that stong an impression of my being German. In a way I feel I cannot quite "get out of my own skin", on the other hand, though, I was pretty much making a joke of it all. Did that not come across? Oh  !!!

  • The arty fart bit, ably assisted by Mentos, and I title it "Hertz or beer?"

    http://www.tempradesign.co.uk/pics/tpf/hmmm.jpg

    The beer won!

  • Tempra... hahaa sorry I had to post this is.... :D
    http://www.mentos.lnet.szn.pl/portfolio/albums/SW/london_352.jpg

I hope that is a thumb there!!! :meh:

  • looks like you all had a great time! wish i could go to a meet up *sigh*

  • Glad Hertz didn't get lost, but did anyone tell him that he's driving on the wrong side of the road?
It's at this point that we have to come clean.
We actually drive on the same side as you Americans - we just flip the pictures around to make you think we don't. Everyone here is in on the joke :lmao:

  • The arty fart bit, ably assisted by Mentos, and I title it "Hertz or beer?"

    http://www.tempradesign.co.uk/pics/tpf/hmmm.jpg

  • Oh great! I'm Disco Banana. Now no-one will take me seriously ever again.

I just knew going to the meet-up was going to be bad for my image...

  • LaFoto's offensive weapon!

It was tiny! I'm surprised the camera didn't fall over forwards!

  • Now I am at my home. It is many hours on the train away from where Corinna lives.
I have had a shower and something to eat.

Now I see that there are many more photos.
You have all made good photos. I like them all.

Hertz is too quick. He drives quickly and he puts up the photo of the cameras on the table. I wanted to send that one first.

Corinna had to tell me how I could get my first digital pictures from the camera into the computer. This is all very difficult for me. Excuse me.

    Here are:

    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y99/LaFotosSister/008_GroupShotTripod.jpg
Here you see the very new tripod that was used for the photos of the whole group. Corinna and Magda look whether Tempra's group photo is nice with the wonderful new tripod. Tempra must forget it there. It is not his tripod :).

    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y99/LaFotosSister/009_Howtogetlost.jpg
A map! The finger shows Finchingfield. We wanted to go there. We were in Royston. And Saffron Walden is between. We got very lost.

    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y99/LaFotosSister/010_RoystonCarPark.jpg
Everyone studies the map. And we went wrong at almost the first turning...

  • Lovely group shot!

I do not recognize some of you. If someone could do the favour that would be great! :)

  • and wow PlasticSpanner, that moon is a great capture, i love it, thanks for putting it up :)

  • Wonderful photos and it looks like it was a great meet up! Thank you all for being so quick to get photos up for our viewing pleasure!

  • you're too quick for me, just downloading mine now

  • OMG that's another terrible photo of me, I knew there was a reason I stayed behind the camera.

  • Oh, this is a nice one! Yes, I think it fits quite well in here!
And Mentos took a nice portrait photo of yourself, Chris! She must have just about used everyone's camera at least once (save mine, but mine's too little and too simple, anyway).

  • In the group photo we were all smiling because on the signal we said the word that all good photographers get their subjects to say to make them look like they are smiling.
    It's the 'ch' word.

    That's right.
    We were all saying 'Chase'.
    Honest.

And if you look very carefully you can see that I am making 'bunny ears' for LaFoto

  • butand from the whole meet-up there was also one more funny thing... Graham threatening to blackmail us or ban us and yelling that he's got a power now :D:D:D

  • And all of you board members who weren't there - you really were there in our thoughts. Even T-H got a mention :lmao:

*paranoid* Ok i'm really worried now.

  • Wow, looks like you all had fun! And great photos! :D

  • Honestly! It was considered a possible weapon by the security control people in the airport and had to go from my hand luggage into the check-in suitcase! It has telescope legs (so it can "grow"!!!), and that fact, so Christiane and I were told, makes it dangerous! Oh yeah! Just look at the POINTY leg ends!!!  But well. I did not mean to use this tripod on board the plane, so what the heck... :D

  • hehe and this one too: http://www.artzam.com/cpg132/albums/slides/t9.jpg

lol Tony, I din't know I grabbed your cam and toook sooooo many pics :P now you have a prove that I love your cam and 50 mm lens :P

  • oi! you're as sneaky as LaFoto!! I'm onto you damnit!

  • Can't wait to see them Christiane, it might be worth seeing if you can get a CD with your photos, as that would save you having to send them to Corinna, or having to buy a new scanner

  • I got to use my brand new top of the range tripod yesterday for the group shot, so you get to see the whole group. Think I left my tripod behind though :(

    http://www.tempradesign.co.uk/pics/tpf/crew.jpg

  • although i have never met any of the people here personally, these photos leave me feeling that i am missing something special. you make a great looking group. i wish i could be there. thanks for sharing these photos, and i am looking forward to more.

i hope y'all had a blast, and maybe someday i will be able to make it to a meet up.

  • I think we should start making plans for a big international meet-up. Make it so, Number One.We should do that! :)

  • [QUOTE=Scurra]Here's one I got of Royster[QUOTE]

Hey Scurra, what are you trying to do scare everyone! my pictures are best viewed thumbnail size! Ha ha ha. It was great meeting you, im glad i came. I hope to meet you again and the rest of the gang on our next meet up.

    All the best, mate.

  • Awwwwwwwww! :(

Hope you'll all enjoy the camping. Sounds like it is going to be fun - but it has become quite chilly over here, same

  • If he does we need to add this smiley http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v298/Karalee/banana2.gif

It will go with his multiple personalities  he can be the BANanator, and the BANANAtor!

    oh.........my.

  • Hey, Tempra, this is a nice album! You are the master of portraits, I say!
My sister will be happy to see a couple of photos of herself WITHOUT her camera in front of her face :D. And I am happy to see that some people (like yourself) are able to take friendly, smiling photos of myself. Very nice.

  • Oh is there a reason that you all lined Hertz up under the sign "old bull"?????

I thought it was quite fitting :lmao:

  • Oh, thank you so much for these photos, Mentos! At least two of you decided to get nice photos of me.
Do any of you have any more of my sister, by the way?

  • LaFoto what are you trying to do to people, scar them for life?!?!? :lmao:

  • Well, would you rent a car from this man, I wonder???????????? (Ah, sweet revenge!)

    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/Inna2212/Meet-Up/Hertz-Collage.jpg

  • Looks like you had a hoot folks. I am quite envious. Congrats. to ya!

did Hertz hoist him up? :)

  • aawww, llok at all those smiling faces. Sure looks like you all have/had a great time.
Maybe ill join you next time, just couldnt make it this year.
    Bummer about your tripod man

  • I like it, too, Mentos. It is very natural.
But I do understand why we usually don't like ourselves with a face that we would NOT draw at ourselves when we see ourselves in the mirror!
I sure never stick my bottom jaw out whenever I look at myself in the mirror!!!!!!!!!!
So there. I like this one, too. Just one more facette of Mentos. Mentos with wind in her face. It's pretty!

  • This really needs to be the new avatar for Hertz, he could be called The Terminator, or The BANanator:

    http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/9201/21601bi.jpg

  • This one?

    http://thephotoforum.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=263

I knew you'd be back for more details after asking Tony! It was just a matter of time! :D Since nobody else tried, the real caption should read "I know she's going to ask for my date of birth now too!"
